Married to a handyman.

When we moved into our house, it was only five years old and didn’t need much in the way of upgrades. Fast‑forward four years, and suddenly the builder‑grade guest bathroom is mocking me with its plainness. I’ve been dreaming about built‑ins next to the fireplace, reimagining the bookshelves in my home office, and don’t even get me started on the laundry room—the tile in there has got to go.

My husband, Brian—the “B” in B’s Home Repair—can tackle any project I throw at him. I swear he can measure a wall just by looking at it. If I have an idea, he can bring it to life. Trust me, I could keep him busy 24/7 with the “honey‑do” list I’ve got going. But he’s busy running the business and helping keep our family afloat, so unfortunately, he’s not my full‑time handyman.

After more than 20 years of marriage, I’ve learned a lot from him. I’ll watch a DIY video and think, I can totally do that! But let’s be honest—I’m far better at writing and researching than I am at painting walls or hanging board‑and‑batten. DIY is not my superpower.

We’re finally kicking off the first project on my list: replacing the carpet in the upstairs hallway with luxury vinyl plank. Stay tuned for how it goes—and for the rest of the ideas I’m itching to tackle next.
